How to be brave in fighting?

today someone came to me and i know him and he knows me,he is older than me by at least 3 and i am 16 years old which he maight be older he would be like 19 or 18 years and started to speak badly at me and insult me a lil bit and i tried to calm him down and he said if u was more older he means me of course he will kick my ***,i did nothing but i said calm down i am srry and by the way he was sittin in the street and i was in the car talkin 2 my friend and the light of the car was bright and it was goin to his face thats why he came to me but i said several times i am sorry ,how to be brave and face him ,not in that, even in other times when things like this happen
