Sowhy didnt the 8th season of......?

Series finale was at the end of season 7. Alexis Bledel would not sign for another season, mostly over $$ and schedule issues, and Lauren Graham refused to continue without her. Also the season 7 low ratings did not help. ASP does want to write a movie though, but it remains a maybe since nothing has been written yet :)
