What could be the problem with my car? (Real answers ONLY!)?

I have a 94' Dodge Spirit... 4 cyl. Suddenly the oil light came on the other day, I checked the oil, I was all out bone dry. I had checked it 2 days before that and I was at max full. After I put 3 quarts in (that's all I had) I pulled the car up, and there was a big puddle of oil and a trail of oil following me. It's leaking out under the hood, right by the left tire. It's black-looks like snuff. And when I put the car in reverse it starts chugging. Obviously I'm not driving the car now- till it gets fixed. But how do I fix it.... and what could it be>>???
